Fall of the Frozen Empire
A race of dwarves believed to have been eliminated during the Dugal Mountain Campaign. Their race was characterized by pale white skin, and dark hair. Duergar were an extremely proud people, not taken to accepting defeat and assuming themselves more powerful then any other race. They had developed they’re own language seperate from those of other dwarves, generally keeping to deeper subterranian holds than their cousins and only associating with others for what little trade they needed, and to collect high road taxes for the use of Erinor Pass.
During the war they were known for often attacking in the darkest part of night in which they could see clearly and fading back into the darkness before true resistance could be mounted. They fought savagely, taking no prisoners, and never showed fear, even in the face of death.
They were accomplished builders and smiths as all dwarves are and some of the ruins of their cities still exist scatterred throughout the northern Dugal mountain range and in the odd passage leading deep into the mountains. Most of such entrances and the caverns their cities were built in were collapsed after the war. No credible eye witness sighting of them has been made within the last two generations.
